Bon Secours Health System has completed the acquisition of Barringtons Hospital in Limerick. Bill Maher Group CEO of the BSHS, the largest Private Hospital Group in Ireland, said: “We have ambitious plans for the development of Barringtons Hospital including extensive refurbishment, recruitment of additional consultant staff and the introduction of new services”.
Meanwhile, as part of the Community Initiative Programme, the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin have made donations of €10,000 to two charities. Folk Ireland, who provide residential care and support to older people including those with Alzheimer’s, various stages of Dementia and Physical Disability will now benefit from a sensory garden in Anam Cara, social housing units in Ballygall, Dublin 11, allowing the residents the opportunity to have access to and enjoy the outdoor space where they can welcome their families and friends.
The hospital has also donated to ChildVision – National Education for Blind Children – which will provide a programme of Equine Assisted Occupational Therapy (EAOT) for visually impaired children who will be able to avail of horse riding sessions with a horse riding instructor and an experienced side walker. The children will benefit greatly from the connection with the horses, the sensory experience of the horse’s movement and the increased demand of their postural control and the increased confidence that will be gained through such an experience.
