E-mail

Leading international consultant Professor Henry Ginsberg will visit Ireland in January 2011 for the third meeting of the Irish R3i committee. Professor Ginsberg will speak to Irish healthcare professionals to address the growing global problem of residual vascular disease.

Professor Ginsberg, Irving Professor of Medicine and Director of the Irving Institute for Clinical Translational Research, Columbia University, New York, is co-principal investigator on the ACCORD Trial, which looked at reducing residual risk in diabetic patients – a large component of the work of the Irish R3i committee.

Professor Ginsberg is also an active member of many national and international organisations, including the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.

The following Grand Rounds are scheduled with Professor Henry Ginsberg:

Date: 17 January                               Venue: Galway University Hospital                          Time: 1pm
Date: 19 January                               Venue: Waterford Regional Hospital                         Time: 1pm

The Irish R3i committee was established in 2009 and is part of a worldwide initiative established by international researchers and clinicians. The vision of the R3i committee is to substantially extend and improve the lives of patients with heart disease and diabetes who have atherogenic dyslipidaemia and remain at significantly increased risk of vascular diseases including heart attacks, impaired kidney function, loss of sight, and limb amputation, despite receiving current standards of care.
