Job Purpose

 

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic Investment Analyst to work within the Alternative Strategies team.  The role is hybrid based with some days in the Dublin 1 office and some days remotely from within the Republic of Ireland.

Alternative Strategies is a critical part of the ILIM Fund Management Team and is responsible for managing and developing a suite of alternative, diversifying assets, including allocations to hedge funds, liquid alternatives, private assets and derivatives-based strategies. 

The team is responsible for the management of third-party capital, internally managed option-based strategies, structuring investment solutions for our clients, continued research and development and sees a high level of interaction and collaboration with investment professionals, both external and in other parts of the firm.

This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic multi-disciplined team and contribute to the management of Ireland’s largest multi-asset funds. It may suit someone who is passionate about investments and looking for an entry level role to start or advance their career after Graduating.
 

Key Accountabilities

 

Reporting to the leader of the Alternative Strategies Team, the role will involve:

 

  • Supporting the third-party manager selection and ongoing due-diligence process. 
  • Supporting the management of active strategies which use options and derivatives to improve return outcomes.
  • Research and development into hedge funds, liquid alternatives, private assets, options and derivatives.
  • Communicating information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively with the team’s stakeholders including investment committees, other teams in fund management, sales teams and senior leadership. 

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate (and possibly a post Grad) in a Finance / numerical  related discipline at a 2:1 or above.  
  • A passion for markets and alternative investments. You should be able to talk confidently about the investment area and understand what is happening in the markets and ESG area and show overall good commercial awareness.
  • The ability to communicate complex material in a clear and coherent fashion to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Coding experience in language like Matlab would be an advantage.
  • The ability to quantitatively and qualitatively assess problems and find solutions in the absence of perfect information.
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • A respect for deadlines and the ability to set realistic timescales for tasks and projects at hand.
  • Previous work experience in Financial Services would be an advantage. 
  • Qualifications such as APA, QFA or CFA would be an advantage.
