Post Specific Related Information: Specific Duties and responsibilities a) To work as an integral part of the North Dublin Mental Health Service within CHO 9 with the aim to provide a first class mental health service. b) To deliver quality mental health services on an inpatient, outpatient, and domiciliary or day hospital basis as appropriate. c) The post-holder will spend at least 30 hours per week in such clinical duties. The weekly schedule will be in line with the following template Clinical work: 30 hours 10.5 hours per week for out-patient clinics (in community) 10 hours per week for ward rounds 4 hours per week for consultation services 2 hours per week for case conferences 3.5 hours per week for team meetings / clinics Participation in the on-call rota Non clinical work: 9 hours 3 hours Administration/Service Development 3 hours Teaching/Research 3 hours Flexible as required d) To be the sole or co-leader with a consultant colleague(s) of the multidisciplinary team in the area. f) To be responsible with the team for performance as measured by the Key Performance Indicators in operation. g) To participate in the delivery and recording of relevant outcome measures for the national clinical programmes for psychiatry. h) To act as Line Manager to NCHDs under his remit i) To provide guidance and supervision to the NCHDs on the team and participate in competency based training and teaching. j) To participate in the general psychiatry on call roster. k) To participate in management, administrative and case conference duties within the service. l) To contribute as appropriate to committees operational within the service such as the Ethics Committee, Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Policy Committee or Integrated Care Planning Committee. m) To deliver a teaching commitment to medical students and graduates of medical and other disciplines is required. o) To be involved in implementation and supervision of audit and research. p) To show commitment to the most efficient management of all resources within the service. q) To register for and commit to continuing professional development. Location: This is an appointment to the CHO 9 on a Type A basis under the Consultants’ Contract 2008 (as per standard text issued by the HSE) by the Health Service Executive. The initial commitment for this post will be to Mental Health Services Dublin North for 39 hours per week. This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the reorganization of acute services in line with new clinical models of acute and community services. It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of national health policy, the HSE’s National Clinical Programmes including commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes. This is a specified purpose contract post/ temporary post.
