Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead the HVAC & black utilities engineering element of the Global Facility Engineering team while supporting the team in project engineering & management. HVAC system include all air systems and associated components required to maintain the required cleanliness levels in clean zone and cleanroom. Black utilities include all elements of water systems including Heating, Chilled, and Process Cooling Water, Hot & Cold-water systems, compressed air systems, steam & condensate systems, Building Management System and Environmental Monitoring Systems. You will support the Global Facility Engineering Network to provide consistent technical engineering support and guidance to the global facilities to achieve corporate goals for Quality, Overall Efficiency, Cost Reduction, Safety and Well-being

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Global Facility Engineering Network in establishing and providing consistent technical engineering support and guidance to the global facilities in all areas relating to HVAC & utilities to achieve corporate goals for Quality, Overall Efficiency, Cost Reduction, Safety and Well-being.
  • Develop & drive standardization and harmonization of existing & new global facilities and implement standards at any new projects with a focus and ownership of HVAC & utility systems. 
  • Develop and maintain engineering guidelines for HVAC & black utility systems in terms of quality, investment and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure all new equipment is designed to be the most sustainable and energy efficient as available. Support all projects implementing Energy Efficient design (EED)
  • Work closely and proactively with Operations, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering and HSE teams in order to develop best in class facility engineering solutions.
  • Execute and direct new projects through West facility engineering defined Project Execution Strategy
  • Provide consistent technical support to the various global sites by being the subject matter experts (SME) for HVAC & utility systems in West globally.
  • Ensure that GMP aspects, current technical standards, local regulations and safety standards for all systems are being considered and met.
  • Establish the engineering expectations for new facility investment projects (Greenfields and plant rebuilt) by communicating the engineering guidelines and establishing clear basis of design documentation.
  • Take an active part in the evaluation and selection of external partners such as engineering consultants and building contractors. Collaborate with and manage external consultants and contractors in building projects to ensure that project tasks and deliverables are being achieved.
  • Provide best practices input based on standard, technical, compliancy working knowledge and experience.
  • Taking the lead in new projects for all disciplines including design reviews, commissioning reviews, operation reviews, and perform constructability analysis during the design phase in close alignment with our external engineering partners and plant engineering teams.
  • Develop and lead engineering document reviews for equipment, facility and utilities and support Project Execution, Vendor Development, including URS, FS, DQ, FAT, FAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ documents.
  • Lead commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Ensure facilities are operating as efficiently as possible to minimize their impact on the environment.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science concentration
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in design/construction/operation in Pharma or Medical device industry or clean utilities industry
  • Good understanding of design and construction, operations & maintenance of HVAC & utility systems & generation equipment.
  • Detailed engineering knowledge of global cleanroom and GMP standards with ability to assert technical solutions and standards in an international environment.
  • Strong engineering and trouble shooting skills (facility engineering, HVAC & utility systems)
  • Energy conservation knowledge 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Science concentration
  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
