Relief Care Worker

Ballard House Autism Residential Service, Co Offaly

Fixed Term Contracts – Variable hours weekly

Job Purpose

To work individually and as part of a team providing high quality care and rehabilitative support to a Service User to remain independent in their own home, while reflecting the objectives of the RehabCare Charter & Philosophy of Care

Minimum Education & Skills required

  • Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Social Care, or equivalent
  • A relevant qualifications in social care status, acquired brain injury and applied behaviour analysis desirable not essential
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in social care, preferably in working with adults who have brain injuries or other neurological conditions and whom experience emotional, cognitive and/or physical impairment
  • Experience working with people that may display behaviours that challenge
  • Experience in the promotion and support of independent living and community integration for service users
  • An understanding of the needs of adults with neurological conditions
  • Knowledge of specific strengths and challenges of working with people who have neurological conditions
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and ability to work alone and within a team

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and actively involved in teamwork, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the service user
  • Facilitate and implement a person centered service appropriate to the needs, wishes and requirements of service users
  • Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling, ensu ring comfort and hygiene of service users and adhering to safe practice at all times
  • Ensure that all interactions with service users are approached with dignity, respect, equality and incorporating choice
