This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quantity surveyor to join the central commercial team of a large construction company. The role will be based in the UK with flexibility on base location. The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Assurance Manager.

The Role

A vacancy has arisen in our central commercial team for a quantity surveyor experienced in cost and value reconciliation to support and continue to improve our commercial operating systems and processes. The individual will work as part of a wider team to support the regions and projects in their use of our commercial reporting systems whilst continuing to drive improvement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support commercial staff in the use of the commercial reporting application to complete their monthly reporting duties of cost and value reconciliation
  • Maintain ongoing liaison with the Finance function in terms of commercial & financial reporting
  • Collaborate with the Superusers of the application to ensure the required level of training and best practise methods of using the application are fully promoted across the business
  • Key involvement in future development projects to shape and improve our internal reporting systems
  • Ad hoc governance tasks relating to the commercial reporting processes

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience of cost and value reporting on large scale construction and or civil engineering projects
  • Keen interest in digital developments within construction and strong IT literacy
  • In depth knowledge of the principles of cost and value reconciliation
  • Experience in using commercial/financial software packages
  • Highly organised with focus on maintaining high levels of quality and completeness in commercial reporting
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work as an effective team member
  • Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative and ability to prioritise individual workloads to meet deadlines
