Working with Local GPs in Southeast Dublin (East Doc), Dun Laoghaire (DL Doc), and Northeast Wicklow (NEW Doc), Northdoc Medical Services CLG provides urgent out of hours GP services for patients who have urgent medical problems and who need to contact a doctor after daytime surgeries close. The position will ideally suit those looking for part time work covering weekend and evening work with competitive pay rates.

The service operates from 18.00 through 08.00 Monday to Friday and 24 hours Saturday, Sunday and all bank and public holidays.


  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day Nurse Telephone Triage operation for all E Doc patients, ensuring that the triage team deal with and prioritise patients as appropriate.
  • Assist with Nurse Telephone triage calls where the service demands.
  • Oversee all quality pertaining to the Nurse Telephone Triage Team providing coaching and support to the team where required and ensuring adherence to E Doc clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Manage the Telephone Triage team daily performance.

Key Responsibilities

The Nurse Supervisor’s interaction with the telephone triage team and E Doc patients is varied and includes:

  • Daily management of Telephone Triage Service.
  • Team coaching and support.
  • Quality monitoring review.
  • Team training and updates where required.
  • Procedure reviews as required.
  • Ensuring triage team compliance with clinical protocols, guidelines, and proper use of Clinical triage software where appropriate.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with all E Doc written standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Attending training as required. 
  • Continuing professional development.
  • Reporting of adverse incidents and hazards as and when they occur.
  • Taking appropriate precautions, adhering to Health and Safety requirements, and adopting safe working practices.
  • Adhering to professional codes of conduct set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. (NMBI) and other related governing bodies
  • Maintaining their registration with NMBI

In accordance with NMBI, the nurse must always respect the clients’ right to anonymity, respect, and confidentiality. In interacting with the patients by telephone, the nurse will use clinical software, their professional judgment and training, to assess the patient’s symptoms. She /he will make decisions to ensure the appropriate level of care is provided to patients.

Requirements (Skill Set)


  • Registered Nurse with NMBI
  • Affiliated with INMO or equivalent union
  • 3 to 5 years post registration experience (with at least two years’ experience in the acute care setting)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer Skills 
  • Flexible approach to working shifts
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and adaptable to change
  • Self-Motivated
